ROLE: NAS ENGINEER
Primary Responsibilities:
· NAS engineers are responsible for monitoring and completion of all incoming SAN service request workload to the required SLAs
· Engineers also responsible for assigned Sustain activities which include upgrade and maintenance planning and execution
· Creation and management of required change approval documentation and approvals
· Attendance on change approval meetings and LOB planning sessions as required
· Maintain operational support and run book documentation
· Execution of planned changes, updates to change management records per process.
· Management escalation of changes that have activation of failures
· NetApp unified Storage (Filer) Administration (L2/L3 level)
· Administration of CIFS and NFS,
· Storage Capacity planning (storage consolidation, storage expansion, decommission and review storage utilization)
· Storage clustering and High Availability management
· Understanding of continuous data protection and disaster recovery solutions (snapmirror, and snapvault)
· Storage server building experience
· Maintain and create shell scripts for automation of storage activities.
· Root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills
· Filer Performance monitoring & tuning
· Knowledge on Incident, Problem and Change process and ITIL Awareness
· Install, patch and upgrade OnTap versions for all production storage systems
· Analyze performance issues and storage usage patterns; maintain adequate capacity of all storage and backup solutions
· Ensure the ongoing maintenance of storage devices is maintained for maximum resource availability
Skills:
• Experience in distributed storage environments.
• Experience in an associated technology (Server, Networks)
• Knowledge of zoning in a large switched fabric environment.
• Knowledge of experience configuring EMC DMX and/or Intermediate HDS Lighting line of products.
• Intermediate experience configuring and deploying Netapp Products, EMC Celerra amd DFM operations Manager
• Intermediate experience installing and configuring host bus adapters.
• Intermediate knowledge/experience designing and deploying snapshot, mirror, snapvault, aggregates/qtrees/volumes
• NetApp Filers (Unified Storage-NAS ) Administration - level 2/3
• Storage Server Building
• Storage clustering & High availability
• Storage capacity planning
Added advantage:
• Experience with scripting using PERL, UNIX shell or similar languages
• NCDA/NCIE Certification
