Become a Short Service Commissioned (SSC) Officer in the Education Branch
Course Commencing - Jan-2012

Applications are invited from unmarried Male Indian Citizens for Short Service Commission (SSC) Officer in Education Branch of the Indian Navy for Course commencing Jan-2012 at INA Ezhimala, Kerala.
Age : Between 21 to 25 years (candidates to be born between 02 January 1987 to 01 Jjan 1991; both dates inclusive)

Educational Qualifications : (a) Minimum 60% marks in any of the following disciplines (i) BE/ B.Tech. (Mechanical/ Computer Science Engg./ IT (ii) M.Tech. (Meteorology/ Oceanography) OR A Master degree with 60% marks or equivalent in any of the following M.Sc. (Physics) (wih Maths in Maths in B.Sc.), M.Sc. Maths (with Physics in B.Sc.), MCA, M.Sc. (Operation Research/ Analysis), M.Sc. (Meterology/ Oceanography), MA (English), MA (History). Those who are in the final years, need not apply.

Physical Standards : Height and Weight : Minimum height Male - 157 cms, Female - 152 cms. with correlated weight. Eye Sight - The minimum acceptable standard for distant vision 6/60, 6/60 connectable to 6/6, 6/12 with glasses and should not be colour/night blind.

SSC : Short Service Commission is granted for a term of 10 years, extendable to 14 years, subject to service requirements and performance/willingness of the candidate.

The Indian Navy is the naval branch of the armed forces of India. The President of India serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy. The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), an Admiral, is a four star commander and commands the Navy. It currently has approximately 56,000 personnel on active duty, including 5,000 members of the naval aviation branch, 1,200 marine commandos and 1,000 Sagar Prahari Bal soldiers, making it the world's fifth largest navy in terms of personnel. The Indian Navy currently operates around 170 vessels, including the aircraft carrier INS Viraat, along with operational jet fighters.
