The Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak better known as IIM Rohtak , is located in Rohtak, Haryana. Rohtak is a municipal council located in Rohtak District in the state of Haryana, India on N.H. 10, 71 km from Delhi.
The 11th five year plan, endorsed by the National Development Council in December 2007, envisaged the establishment of seven new IIMs. Aimed at generating both highly competent as well as highly trained trained manpower, the institutes are also expected to act as a major catalyst for developing a knowledge society that would inevitably impact the economic growth of the country.

IIM Rohtak is amongst the seven new IIMs that were approved by the Union Cabinet on August 27, 2009. Incidentally it is also North India’s first IIM. The institute is being mentored by IIM Lucknow in its formative years. The current faculty in charge of the academic programme consists primarily of senior faculty from IIM Lucknow as well as from its Noida Campus. Dr. Devi Singh, the Director of IIM Lucknow, is the mentoring director of IIM Rohtak.
